Here's our recommended checklist to get a fast and accurate quote.
1. Jobsite Location
What city and state will the canopy be installed in?
Location matters more than you think. It can affect freight costs, local building requirements, installation logistics, and scheduling.
2. Canopy Configuration
Tell us the shape of your canopy.
Some common configurations include:
- Square or rectangular
- T-shaped
- L-shaped
- Skewed (parallelogram)
Even a simple sketch can help us understand the overall design. Our in-house design team can also help bring a completely custom look to life.
3. Canopy Dimensions
We'll need to know the overall length and width of the canopy.
These dimensions are the foundation for estimating materials, engineering, fabrication, and installation costs. Knowing an upfront estimate of how much material we will need to fabricate and transport helps dials in your estimate.
4. Column Placement
One of the most important pieces of information is how the canopy will be supported.
We need to know the placement of the columns:
- Center-to-center spacing between columns
- Center of column to the canopy perimeter
And:
- Areas where columns cannot be placed
Sometimes underground utilities, traffic lanes, fuel islands, or site constraints determine where canopy supports can be placed. If that's the case, simply let us know the restrictions.
5. Clearance Height
How much clearance is needed beneath the canopy?
A canopy meant to serve commercial transportation and a canopy intended for everyday drivers have completely different height requirements.
An accurate measurement helps determine column heights, structural requirements, and overall design.
6. Installation Requirements
Let us know how you'd like us to install your project.
Options include:
- Non-union installation
- Union installation
- Prevailing wage
- Supply only (no installation)
Knowing this information early on helps us build an estimate that reflects your project's actual labor requirements.
7. Brand Image
If your project is tied to a specific fuel or retail brand, let us know.
